Written and directed by innovative German filmmaker Tom Twyker, Run Lola Run tells three different versions of the same story, propelled by a techno soundtrack and pop-video aesthetics. Set in 1998 Berlin, the movie follows Lola, who has 20 minutes to find 100,000 Deutschmarks to save the life of her dodgy boyfriend.Thematically, Run Lola Run addresses the profound impact that small spontaneous decisions can have on our lives. For writer/director Twyker, the meaning of life is strongly influenced by small incidents of coincidence. For Lola, it’s love, death, and fate that are the determining factors energizing her life.Film critic James Berardinelli writes that “this film is a kinetic meditation on fate and destiny that’s saturated with irony, moves at a blazing speed, and uses an innovative mix of animation, still photography, slow motion, and exciting cinematography.” Another critic describes the film as brilliant editing of a simple story that asks: How do our actions affect our lives? The film runs 81 minutes and provides subtitles.

Film enthusiast Lynne Thorner will facilitate a thoughtful post-viewing analysis and insightful exchange of ideas and thoughts about the film’s relevant spiritual dimension.
